Who's Sam? 

I have always thought in stories. My brain took details of the day and weaved them into a narrative. Everything is connected, has a purpose, and results in a new chapter. No wonder I was drawn to the written word and ended up in the dream of teaching -- where you are always making connections and waving a story for students. 

I graduated from Auburn University in 2017 with a B.A. in English, Creative Writing. I had just met my future husband and didn't know what I wanted next, so I stayed at AU to earn a Master's in English, Creative Writing. By the end of the program, I realized I wanted to be a teacher, so I packed my bags and we headed a state away to earn my teacher certification in English for K-12. In 2023, I finished my Educational Specialist in English, Secondary  Education from Columbus State University. 

I love being a teacher. It is exactly where I belong, especially in a space like publishing a yearbook. My two young daughters and husband are the fuel for me to create inclusive spaces in my classroom, be kind, show grace, and push myself and my students to be better. I could not ask for a more beautiful life.
